Dwueng-Chwuan (Tony) Jhwueng

I am a Professor in the Department of Statistics at Feng Chia University. I did my Ph.D. in Mathematics (Statistics option) with a minor in Applied Mathematics from Indiana University Bloomington, USA. My work focuses on stochastic modeling and statistics phylogenetic, with applications to evolutionary/developmental biology, health insurance and public finance, and data science education.

Research Areas

• Phylogenetic comparative methods: likelihood- and Bayesian-based models, regression for discrete and count data, and model selection on trees and networks.
• Stochastic processes & rate variation: Brownian motion, OU and diffusion-type models, time series ARMA-inspired frameworks for trait and substitution rates.
• Applied analytics: statistical modeling for health insurance, public finance, and risk forecasting (e.g., MOHW supplemental premium revenue, construction cost forecasting).
• Teaching & learning in data science: reproducible workflows, R and Python integration, and quantitative evaluation of programming and statistics education.
